Privacy Policy

This is a translation of the Japanese original. If there is any inconsistency between this translation and the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.

This Privacy Policy describes how Ryo Yoshitsugu (the “Provider”) handles user information in JongBook (the “Application”), a mahjong score sheet app for iOS provided by the Provider.

Information Stored in the Application

The Application stores the following information that you enter on your device.

This information is not sent off your device, except when you use “Group Sharing via iCloud” described below. In either case, it is never sent to the Provider’s servers, and the Provider does not collect or view it. When you delete the Application, this information is deleted from that device.

If you back up your device (to iCloud Backup or to a computer), this information may be included in the backup along with your other device data. Backups are made through Apple’s systems under your control, and the Provider does not obtain their contents.

The Application does not ask you to register your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information. It also does not collect your device’s precise location.

Group Sharing via iCloud

The Application lets you share a group with other users using Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit). This feature is used only when you invite others or join a group. Groups that are not shared, and score sheets that do not belong to a group, are not sent to iCloud.

When you share a group, the following information about that group is stored in iCloud and synced among the users participating in the share.

Shared group information is stored in the iCloud account of the user who created the group, and is read and written through the iCloud accounts of the users who joined. This information is handled in accordance with Apple’s Privacy Policy, and the Provider does not collect or view it.

In addition to the information above, users participating in a share can see the name registered to each participant’s iCloud account. Anyone who has the invite link can join the group, so send the invite link only to people you want to share with.

The user who created the group can remove participants from the share and can stop sharing. When sharing stops, the group’s information is deleted from iCloud. However, score sheets already saved on a participant’s device remain on that device.

So that the Application can be opened from apps such as LINE, invite links go through a relay page (jyanbook.web.app) that the Provider hosts on Google’s Firebase Hosting. The iCloud share link and the group name are included in the link in a form that is not sent to the relay page’s server (the part of the URL after “#”). When the relay page is opened, Firebase Hosting may record access logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, as ordinary web servers do.

Advertising

The Application displays ads using Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google AdMob may collect the following information to deliver ads, measure their effectiveness, and prevent fraud.

This information is handled in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy. The Provider does not receive this information in a form that identifies you.

While you use JongBook Pro, the Application does not load or display ads. However, the advertising service is initialized when the Application starts, so some communication with Google may occur.

Consent for Advertising and Analytics

If you use the Application in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the Application shows a screen when you first launch it, asking for your consent to the use of your information for delivering ads and for usage analytics. This screen is displayed through a system provided by Google. You can review the purposes and the companies that receive the information, and choose whether to consent for each purpose.

Your choices are passed to Google and its advertising partners, and your information is handled in accordance with them. Depending on your choices, you may see ads that are not based on your interests, or no ads at all. You can use all features of the Application even if you do not consent.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from “Ad Privacy Settings” in the menu on the score sheet list screen. If you use the Application in certain U.S. states, you can also opt out of the sale and sharing of your information for advertising from the same menu. This menu item appears when you use the Application in these regions.

Allowing or Declining Tracking

When you first launch the Application, it asks for permission to track you in order to show ads that match your interests. If you allow it, the advertising identifier is also used for the usage analytics by Firebase Analytics described below. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not used, and you will see ads that are not based on your interests. You can use all features of the Application even if you decline. In regions where the consent screen described above is shown, the Application asks for permission to track after that screen.

You can change this setting at any time in the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, under Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Usage Analytics

To improve its features, the Application uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase), an analytics service provided by Google LLC. In regions where the consent described above is required, the Application passes your consent choices to Firebase Analytics, and the information is handled in accordance with them. Firebase Analytics collects the following information.

The Application does not send anything you enter to Firebase Analytics, such as score sheet contents, group or member names, or iCloud account information. The Provider views the collected information only as statistics and does not use it to identify individuals. This information is handled in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.

Purchase Information

Purchases of and payments for JongBook Pro are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Provider does not receive your name, Apple Account, credit card information, or any other payment information. To determine whether Pro is available, the Application checks your purchase status on the device through Apple’s StoreKit.

Sharing Score Sheets as Images

The Application lets you share a score sheet as an image. Sharing happens only when you choose to share, and shared images are handled in accordance with the privacy policy of the service you share them to.

Information Collected When You Contact Us

If you contact the Provider by email or through the contact form (Google Forms), the Provider obtains the email address you enter, your name (if entered), and the contents of your inquiry. This information is used only to respond to and handle your inquiry, and is deleted appropriately once it is no longer needed. Information entered in the contact form is handled on Google’s services in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.

Disclosure to Third Parties

The Provider does not disclose information obtained through inquiries to third parties without your consent, except as required by law. Apart from the collection of information by Google AdMob and Firebase described above, and storage with Apple when you use Group Sharing via iCloud, the Application does not send your information to third parties.

Children’s Privacy

The Application is not primarily directed to children under the age of 13. The Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

The Provider may change this Privacy Policy as needed. The revised Privacy Policy takes effect when it is posted on this page.
